The Blackfin Tuna, also known as Albacore, is a schooling fish that generally feeds near the surface. It is an excellent light tackle species that is highly regarded for its fighting ability.

  • Size: Max of 46 lbs
  • State Record: 38.89 lbs and 41.75″; 1988 (Source: Texas Parks and Wildlife).
  • Habitat: The Blackfin Tuna is found in coastal waters. It is a schooling, migratory fish, often forming large mixed schools with Skipjack Tuna.
