Blue Marlin is considered to be the most exciting species of fish to catch in the Gulf of Mexico. It is a powerful and aggressive fighter that can run hard and long, leaping high in the air in amazing displays of acrobatics.

  • State Record: 972.70 lbs and 132.25 inches; 2014. (Source: Texas Parks and Wildlife)
  • Habitat: The Blue Marlin spends the majority of its life in the open sea far from land. It preys on a wide variety of marine organisms, mostly near the surface, often using its bill to stun or injure its prey. They prefer to stay in the warm waters near the surface, migrating seasonally to stay in warm waters.
